Corrosion starts at the leading edge and around the latch, usually from the inside out, so a hood that looks sound can be thin behind the frame.
We stock hoods, hood hinges and hood latches for Kia, Nissan, Mazda and Volvo models, along with the insulation and seals that fit them.
Hoods are body-style and model-year specific. A facelift changes the panel shape, and a car with hood vents, a scoop or factory insulation has different mounting provisions. Hinges are handed and generation-specific — the two generations of the same model do not interchange even though the hood looks similar.
Replacement panels ship in a raw or primed finish and need paint. Align at the hinges and the latch before paint so the shut lines and the gap to the fenders are set on bare metal. A hood that will not stay up or will not release is a safety item: replace the latch or the struts rather than living with it.
