Glass & Windows

Glass is structural on a modern car as well as transparent: the windscreen contributes to shell stiffness, the back glass carries the heated element and often the aerial, and the bonded seal is what keeps water out of the cabin.

Buying guide: Glass & Windows

We supply windscreens, door glass, quarter glass, back glass and fixed glass panels for Kia, Nissan, Mazda and Volvo models. The catalogue distinguishes fixed glazing from movable glazing, because the two use different bonding, different channels and different regulators.

Glazing is option-specific. A windscreen for a car with a rain sensor has a different aperture in the laminate from one without, acoustic laminated glass is a separate part number, and heated screens carry their own connector. Door glass differs between manual and power windows at the mounting points.

Bonded glazing needs a professional installer with the correct primer and urethane, and the car should sit long enough for the adhesive to cure before it is driven. If a window regulator or channel is worn, replace it at the same time — a worn mechanism is what cracks the new glass at the mounting points.
