Buying guide: Bumpers & Components

We stock the full breakdown for Kia, Nissan, Mazda and Volvo: the outer covers and fascias that you see, the energy absorbers and reinforcement bars behind them, and the brackets that tie the assembly back to the body.

The cover is the piece that usually needs replacing. It is moulded from a flexible thermoplastic, so it dents and stress-whitens rather than rusting, and a crack that has whitened cannot be repaired invisibly. Covers are also trim-specific: a car with parking sensors has cut-outs that a base model does not, and a facelift changes the cover shape long before the fender or hood changes.

Behind the cover sits the reinforcement bar and the energy absorber. If the cover is cracked from a real impact rather than a scrape, check those too — a bent bar will not let a new cover sit square, and the mounting points on the body rail are often the thing that actually moved.

Most covers ship in a raw or primed finish and need a body shop to colour-match. Confirm the side, the trim level and the sensor or fog-lamp provisions before ordering.
