Assist Strap is fitted to the Kia door structure and is one of the parts that fails first once the door has been used for a few years. Genuine Kia part number 85340-3C10087.
Broken returns springs, stretched cables and worn pivots show up as a handle with no resistance or a door that needs a slam. Front and rear doors use different part numbers even when the handle or hinge looks identical.
Access is from inside the door, so removing the trim panel is part of the job — order new panel clips if the originals are brittle.
Door Check Straps Assist Strap replacement for Kia. Cross-check the part number against the component you are removing before ordering.
