Assist Strap is fitted to the Kia door structure and is one of the parts that fails first once the door has been used for a few years. Genuine Kia part number 85340-3K600RU.
Water ingress past a failed seal corrodes the internal linkage, which is why the symptom appears suddenly after a wet season. Trim level affects whether the door carries a sensor, a soft-close or a keyless aerial, so confirm the original part number first.
No paint required; the part mounts behind the door trim panel.
Door Check Straps Assist Strap replacement for Kia. Cross-check the part number against the component you are removing before ordering.
