Splash Shield is the panel around the Kia wheel opening that carries the arch line and shields the inner structure. Genuine Kia part number 51756-DO000.
Impact damage from a wheel strike or a minor collision distorts the panel and breaks the liner mounts, which then lets water into the cavity. Check whether the original panel has an aerial hole, a side-repeater cut-out or a cladding mounting provision.
Seam sealer and cavity wax are required along the inner joints after fitting to keep corrosion out.
