Quarter Panel Extension is a body-side fitting on the Mazda — small, inexpensive, and usually the reason a larger panel will not sit flush. Genuine Mazda part number b4ya7144ya.
Original fittings become brittle with age and heat cycles, which is why a clip that held for ten years snaps the first time it is disturbed. Confirm the model and year range on the listing; the same fitting is often used across several models but not across every year.
Do not over-torque these fittings — the plastic or thin-gauge body panel strips before the fitting does.
