Lower Molding Protector is a body-side fitting on the Mazda — small, inexpensive, and usually the reason a larger panel will not sit flush. Genuine Mazda part number D11D-51-954.
These parts are consumed rather than repaired: they break on removal, corrode, or lose their grip and let the panel they retain move. Match by part number — body hardware is dimension-critical and a 1 mm difference in shank or reach is enough to stop it seating.
Do not over-torque these fittings — the plastic or thin-gauge body panel strips before the fitting does.
