Hood Panel is a body fitting on the Mazda that the exterior panels and trim depend on to stay located. Genuine Mazda part number fey15231x.
Once the fitting fails the surrounding parts work loose and start to chafe, so replacing the small part early prevents damage to the panel it holds. Match by part number — body hardware is dimension-critical and a 1 mm difference in shank or reach is enough to stop it seating.
Do not over-torque these fittings — the plastic or thin-gauge body panel strips before the fitting does.
