Base(R) Handle is part of the door assembly on your Mazda and carries load every time the door is opened, closed or locked. Genuine Mazda part number bdmt5842x.
Water ingress past a failed seal corrodes the internal linkage, which is why the symptom appears suddenly after a wet season. Front and rear doors use different part numbers even when the handle or hinge looks identical.
No paint required; the part mounts behind the door trim panel.
Door Handles Base(R) Handle replacement for Mazda. Cross-check the part number against the component you are removing before ordering.
